The Ouija Board - An Avenue of Evil

The Ouija Board - An Avenue of Evil is the continuation in a series of hubs in which I discuss my life of rebellion, dabbling in the Occult, drugs, crime and prison to life-changing conversion through Jesus Christ. Click here to read it from the beginning. In this hub, I discuss some of the experiences I had growing up on Dana Drive in Antioch, CA. Experiences that revolved around involvement in Occult activities.

Moving on Up

Dana Drive is the the name of a street in Antioch, CA I moved to with my family when I was 10 years old. While we lived on West 7th Street (mentioned in my last hub), my parents, three sisters and I shared a one story two bedroom home together. My father owned that house on West 7th Street; but he ended up selling it and upgrading to a four bedroom, two story home on Dana Drive, with a built in pool in the back yard. My dad worked hard as a contractor to accomplish this; and he took a loan from the bank, too.

New Home, New Experiences

With our new home came many new experiences for me. Most of these experiences were negative ones. This has a lot to do with the type of people that I chose to associate with. I made friends with drug users and dealers, which led me into a life of crime and prison; but I will discuss that in more detail in future hubs. In this hub, I am going to focus more on my experiences with Occult activity.

Communicating with the Spirits

The Ouija Board is basically a tool for communicating with spirits, consisting of a board with letters and words and a planchette (a small heart-shaped piece of wood or plastic with a circular hole in the middle). Participants (usually between two to three people) put two fingers (pointer finger and middle finger) on each corner of the planchette and ask the board questions. The spirits answer by moving the planchette over a series of letters which spell out words.

Some people think the Ouija Board is harmless fun. Others think you can contact departed spirits of the dead; but I believe it is much more sinister than that. Some of the experiences I had with the Ouija Board have led me to that conclusion. For example, one time I was playing with the Ouija Board with a friend in my father's garage. When I asked the board who we were talking to, it spelled out, "Satan"! Not a good sign!

At around the same time, my sister, Agnes, had a pet rabbit that went crazy and started biting people. It attacked a young girl, the daughter of a family friend who was visiting us; and it took a chunk out of her ankle after biting her. It had to be put under after that. Did my friend and I, by playing the Ouija Board in my father's garage, open some sort of demonic avenue through which my sister's rabbit became possessed? I wouldn't doubt it.

Paranormal Activity

Most of the times I played with the Ouija Board, it was at my neighbor's house. A girl lived there, which was around the same age as my friend and I. We were all kids from the same neighborhood; and we were all around 15 years old at the time. There was a time when this girl's stereo in her living room started acting funny after we played with the Ouija Board. It started flipping through the stations, all on its own. Her mom was heavily into playing with the Ouija board, as well. She would get high on meth and play it by herself in her bedroom; although, she warned us never to play with it on our own because that was supposed to lead to demonic possession.

Eventually, I lost contact with those neighbors because their house ended up getting foreclosed on and they got evicted. However, that wasn't the end of my paranormal experiences.

Spooky Dream

Right before falling asleep one night, I heard some noises coming from the wooden TV stand in my room. It was a recurring noise of wood settling; similar to what you would hear if someone were to walk up a flight of old wooden stairs. The odd thing is, this noise repeated itself in sets of three; and this happened several times. It was as if someone took three steps on some old wooden stairs, stopped for a few seconds, and then did it again. This went on for a couple of minutes. I'll be honest, I was spooked! I thought, what are the chances of this happening naturally?

Then I fell asleep. In my dream, I was overlooking myself, sleeping in my bed. Then, my attention was focused to my closet, to the right of me. Everything was very dark; and out of the darkness of my closet appeared this demonic looking mask. Like some kind of African Voodoo mask, with horns and a wicked facial expression. It was completely bodiless. It made its way over to me and hovered over my sleeping body for a second. Then, over my sleeping body appeared Jesus in glory, shining extremely bright. His hands were clasped together as if in prayer; and that's when I awoke. What the meaning of that dream is, I'm nor sure; and I don't want to speculate. Nonetheless, that's what happened.

Hell of a Ride

Then there was the time that my friends John, Danny and I were driving back from the pier near the Antioch bridge after some beer drinking. I was 16 years old at the time and had my drivers license and a car. We were actually pretty drunk. Danny asked me to pull over on the gravel shoulder so that he could step out and relieve himself on the side of the road. It was late, dark, and there were no other cars on the road. In the middle of taking care of his business, my car took off like I had just punched the gas, full throttle! However, I did not touch a thing...

The car door hitched onto Danny’s clothing and started dragging him. Luckily, he was able to hop onto the door frame and hold onto the door to avoid any serious injury. Then, after Danny started yelling at me, I came to my senses and slammed on the brakes; and the car came to a grinding halt. Danny was infuriated with me, thinking that I tried to play some kind of prank on him. I tried to honestly convince him that I was not at fault, to no avail.

Why did I have these paranormal experiences in my life? And why did they all start happening after I began playing with the Ouija Board? I have a theory about that; and I will discuss it in my next hub. Click the link below to read it.
