13. Selling Weed
Do you think marijuana is a dangerous drug?
Selling Weed
Selling Weed is the continuation in a series of hubs in which I discuss my life of rebellion, dabbling in the Occult, drugs, crime and prison to life-changing conversion through Jesus Christ. Click here to read it from the beginning. In this hub, I will discuss experiences that I had as a pot pusher.
Spending All My Money
I began dealing drugs at the age of 18. I started out with marijuana. My goal in drug dealing was to be able to pay for my weed smoking habit along with making a little profit. You see, I had worked various jobs from my youth until that point, but I had nothing to show for it. When I was 16 years old, I worked in fast food for about six months. Then I did some warehouse work. I also worked with my father for his construction company. I even made good money working for my father. However, I always ended up spending my money on drugs (primarily marijuana and alcohol).
I got tired of having no money, so I decided to try my hand at drug dealing. I started out small, selling low quality weed (bammer). I would buy an ounce of brown bud for something like $90 and divide it up into eighths of an ounce and such. I sold eighths for $20. I also smoked it; although, that kind of weed is disgusting. It tastes like dirt, it’s full of seeds and stems, and it gives you a headache.
At times, when I smoked a joint, it would pop from a seed bursting because I hadn’t picked all of the them out. The high was short lived too. It only lasted about half an hour, and it was weak. However, I usually drank a 40 oz. of malt liquor while smoking bammer to intensify it.
Getting Busted
It didn’t take long for me to get caught selling bammer. I got caught selling it to a girl in high school. While passing each other in a crowd, I slipped an eighth of an ounce to her; but the transaction didn’t go as smoothly as planned. She stopped and held the weed in her hand while digging in her purse for the money. It drew the attention of a school official monitoring us.
We were quickly escorted to the school office; then the police were called. Her weed was confiscated, a few eighths were discovered on me; and I was handcuffed and taken to jail. I got kicked out of school for weed—again! I was taken to Martinez County Jail in California. I was only there for a few days. Then I got released with a court date.
In court, I pleaded my charge down from marijuana sales to possession of marijuana. As a result, I had to attend six months of drug diversion classes, which included drug testing. The drug diversion classes were a sort of rehabilitation. I was also court ordered to attend a few AA meetings. Unfortunately, everything I heard went in one ear and out the other. I couldn’t wait until I finished my drug diversion classes so I could start smoking weed again.
In addition, I was put on probation for something like three years; although, my probation officer never called me. I never even met her; so I just kept smoking weed and drinking alcohol like before. However, I didn’t take much of a chance with dealing drugs on probation. I stopped for a good year or so.
Bouncing Back
After completing my drug diversion classes, I attempted to better myself. By the prompting of my parents, I began attending Heald College, School of Business in Concord, CA. After two years of studies, I earned an associates degree in business and computer software applications. I should have earned my degree within 18 months; but I was smoking too much weed and failed a semester because I couldn't concentrate from being so high; so I had to do it over. After failing that semester I got my head straight, a little bit, by cutting my weed smoking back. I was able to bounce back and complete my studies after that.
However, I never ended up gaining employment with my associates degree; because by the time I earned it, I was already selling drugs again. I started dealing again while attending college. After completing college, I applied for work at a couple of places but didn’t get the job; so I said to myself, forget it. I was already making money from drug dealing, so I stuck to it. What a foolish decision!
While attending college, I was also working at a computer electronics store. There, and in college, I began peddling marijuana again. The only difference was, this time I was dealing with high quality, green weed: chronic. Ounces of chronic cost around $350. After purchase, I divided them up into grams, eighths, quarter ounces and half-ounces for sale.
Singing Praises Under the Influence
I will never forget one of my customers from Heald College. He was this flamboyantly dressed African-American male. He always wore loud color suits with hats that had a feather sticking out of them. He often bought $20 sacks of weed from me. He was in his early- to mid-30s. He had a girlfriend which was 10 years older than him, which I think supported him because he had no job and he drove her car around. He was also a member in good standing with his church. He even put on concerts for them. He was some kind of gospel singer.
The last part is the part that really gets me. This guy was supposed to be some kind of prominent Christian in his church; yet, he was smoking weed! I didn’t think anything of it at the time I was selling him marijuana because I didn’t know anything about Christianity (although, I have since converted); but I was getting some gospel singer high! He still owes me $20, by the way.
I began selling drugs at the age of 18 because I was tired of having no money. Shortly afterwards, I was arrested and then quickly released from jail. I earned a college degree and went right back into drug dealing. At one point in time, I sold marijuana to a gospel singer! This is just the beginning of my drug dealing story. In my next hub, I will give more details about it. Click on the link below to read it.
